If you’re unsure where to start when exploring the Coffs Harbour region, here are a few favourites that are well worth adding to the itinerary:
- Rainforests and waterfalls: Home to some of the most breathtaking rainforests and waterfalls in Australia, take the drive down Waterfall Way which passes through Bellingen, Dorrigo and Ebor. Make sure you stop to take in Crystal Shower Falls and Dangar Falls in Dorrigo National Park and Ebor Falls in Guy Fawkes River National Park—you won’t be disappointed!
- Coastal escape: Head half an hour north of Coffs to Woolgoolga to sample the many beaches in the area, or if you’re heading south, pay a visit to Sawtell Beach and Boambee Creek Reserve and make sure you also check out the impressive above water boardwalk in Urunga. The Smoky Cape Lighthouse in Hat Head National Park is another good attraction.
- Novel attractions: A visit to Coffs Harbour’s famous ‘Big Banana’ Fun Park is a must, along with the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House and Dolphin Marine Conservation Park. For a taste of the local history, head to the Coffs Harbour Regional Museum or take the one hour drive south through Nambucca Heads and Macksville to Taylors Arm to visit the acclaimed ‘Pub with No Beer’.
